Network Administration, Business Analyst,  Software Design and Development

 OBJECTIVE

SUMMARY:

Increase profitability and organizational efficiencies by managing people and resources. Interfacing with customers and personnel. Work with highly technical software or hardware applications. Contribute fresh ideas and strategies to overall business operations.

Business Intelligence

Category Management, Data mining / warehousing. – Retail Chain stores.. VBMM software.
This software allowed grocery chains, for the first time, to aggregate sales information for perishable goods by store, chain, region, sales territory and any other specified qualifier.  This allowed the chains to more accurately control inventory by demographics and region saving thousands of dollars in spoiled product costs weekly.  It also assisted marketing managers to produce more accurate sales forecasting and ad item sale promotions.  If was later adjusted to forecast sale item profitability by adding cost and labor burdening factors.

Management Dashboards …decision support systems…software enhancements / maintenance.
Have written numerous add on / add in programs to enhance reporting capabilities of packaged systems.  This has allowed business owners / controllers to more clearly understand their business metrics in a high level summarized fashion with drill down capabilities.  A local home builder used this concept to keep an eye on their business metrics by dilneating units sold vs production schedule vs lot status for their communities. in combination with a gross margin reporting.  The cost / benefit of this system saved them thousands of dollars on a monthly basis.

Office Automation

Office Automation - A process analysis showed a homebuilder was spending over $50,000 per year to send the traides purchase orders.  Faxing, mailing costs and employee salaries were included in this amount.  TriTech wrote an automation program that retrieved the purchase order information from the database, flagged it as sent and automatically emailed the purchase orders to the trades every night.  Thebreak even point for this process was less than six months.

Office Automation Real Estate Appraisal Report Software – After performing a software feasibility / recommendation for a real estate appraisal firm, TriTech observed that the commercial narrative report process this firm was using was very time consuming and laborious.  After studying market viability TriTech developed an automated process for producing this report.  This software saves commercial real estate appraisers 30% of their time in producing a report which supplements their analysis.  It is a retail product available over the web.

eMarketing

Web Marketing / SEO… Several clients had web hosting with no statistics and had no idea of how productive their web sites were.  I performed various discovery exercises for them and determined the viability of their web sites.  I then proceeded to implement the recommended changes.  The net result is the average traffic driven to the web sites increased by 1,000%!

Report Concierge – Retail Software Package - Commercial Real Estate Appraisal Report Generator, 2001 – Current

Responsible for design / development / deployment of a narrative report automation software package for the commercial real estate appraisal industry. This includes distribution CD, web presence including but not limited to user registration, trial product download, product updates, purchase, product support by chat and bulletin board, and activation via the web. The original prototype was developed over the last 12 years by a real estate firm using WordPerfect macros. I redesigned, enhanced functionality, and programmed the saleable commercial application. It was publicly released Q4, 2002.  It consists of 21 input screens, written in VB 6.0, heavily utilizing Microsoft Word's office automation and COM features. It is transportable between Access and SQL Server. It is a two-tier client/server application. It incorporates a "Live Update" feature, which informs users of program updates and enhancements via the web, and allows them to download and install the updates similar to Norton Anti Virus live update feature. It includes web purchase and registration facilities via ASP components. See www.reportconcierge.com for more information.

VBMM (Value Based Meat Management System) - A perishable goods sales forecasting and category management system for supermarket chains, zones or individual stores.
Allows retail chain stores to generate sales plans/ad campaigns for meat, fish, poultry, veal, lamb and beef at any level of corporate hierarchy. It forecasts sales volume, costing, and profitability margins for these commodities. The user interface is a spreadsheet look alike. The forecasting module retrieves Sales History, Cost, and Retail pricing information from imported Scan Data History, derived or loaded cost information, and retail price information (for any time period and organizational hierarchy level) to generate the initial sales plan. This spreadsheet incorporates roll up/roll down and drill up/drill down capabilities for product category summarization. It can be manipulated at any detail level to produce a purchase and sales campaign strategy for meat department(s). It allows an ad campaign to be generated for the entire corporation, division, price zone, or individual store, with historical recap of projected vs. actual sales. Corporate level sales plans can then be reduced and distributed to store, price zone, or division levels. The distribution algorithm is based on each retail product's contribution to sales volume for every level of corporate hierarchy in the selected time period. Conversely, different sales plans can be aggregated or combined between hierarchy structures to produce a bottom up type of scenario. This allows lower, even store level, planning to occur and aggregate up to corporate level product purchasing, thereby reducing overall costs and providing corporate management the ability to monitor ad campaign effectiveness.
VBMM also contains a costing module which generates future cost figures for different retail cuts of meat based on a cross section of product blend costs, raw material volumes, and labor (time and motion) needed to produce the retail beef product from a primal. It incorporates shrinkage, wrapping, shipping, and stocking labor factors to fully burden the retail product's cost for later profitability calculations. In this module future cost and retail pricing is calculated and determined for an organization's hierarchy and can be distributed to lower or hierarchy levels if wanted. Retail pricing is manually entered producing an overall profit percentage or, if wanted, the profit percentage is entered for any product type and the system calculates future retail prices needed to satisfy profit percentages.
It was converted to client/server architecture and migrated to SQL Server in the year 2000.
Developed requirements, design, SDLC, BCE, ACWP, manpower allocation, task scheduling and prioritization for 3 to 6 consultants during development and conversion of this system.
The product has subsequently been sold to a marketing firm which produces product strategy information for the National Beef Council based on various market studies in process.

AT&T Partners In Business / Loyalty system - A points award / redemption system for toll free “800” business phone number usage.
Worked with the development team in overall design, SDLC, requirements definition, coding and implementation of this system. This complex system consists of on line enrollment (CICS/VSAM), reward point accumulation (via AT&T's billing files), award redemption and reconciliation. Files are parsed into ten segmented VSAM master files for performance.
I was later contracted back in to design, manage, and implement the aggregator portion of the AT&T Partners In Business / Loyalty system. Project budget, defined tasks, manpower requirements and managed four programmer / analysts over a 90 day period during the design / programming / implementation of the aggregator portion of this system.
